Growing the Whole Child

At the heart of all IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP) lies the Learner Profile. You’ll hear our classroom teachers using the attributes to give feedback to students, our school counselor, Mrs. Hougham, embedding them into her lessons, and even students using the same language to reflect on themselves as a learner to set goals for themselves or describe characters in texts read in their classroom (For those returning Spicewood families I’m sure you’ve even heard your own children using these attributes!).

The Learner Profile sets the stage for a unique learning environment here at Spicewood, providing our students with an education of the whole child by “developing internationally minded people who…help create a better and more peaceful world.” This week I thought I would share a quick video that explains a little bit more about these attributes WHY they lie at the core of WHAT we DO here everyday!
