What’s Happening

Mark your calendars! The new Spicewood Teaching Garden build day has been scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd. Our plan is to create a garden that will benefit all children at Spicewood and be an invaluable tool for teaching and learning. Along with teacher support and family and community involvement, we will grow the garden into a wonderful outdoor learning environment. Over the next few weeks you will see the area for the garden space being prepared for the October 22nd build day. To volunteer, view the design plan or contact any of the Spicewood PTA Garden Committee members, visit our Teaching Garden webpage.

Round Rock ISD and Spicewood Elementary School proudly presents the E-3 Alliance 2nd annual Flu clinic for the children. The clinic will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2016 from 12:30 – 2:45 for children who are currently enrolled in Spicewood Elementary School. We have seen a successful reduction in the flu for Spicewood children in past years and look forward to minimizing the spread of the flu virus once again at Spicewood! Parents are welcome to attend the clinic with their child, however, the clinic is only for children who are currently enrolled in Spicewood Elementary School.

Please note: E-3 Alliance is only offering the shot form of the vaccine this year – the mist is not available. Consent forms will be sent home in the Friday folders this week.

This year we will be expanding Coding Club to all students in grades K-5! We will also be taking ACTION in our community by donating all club dues to the Play for All Foundation and the Play for All Park Expansion Project. We chose this project because the park provides a safe, fun place for children of all abilities to play and develop skills and they are working to expand the park, doubling it in size! The suggested donation is $20 for students to participate in the club, but since we are donating 100% of the proceeds to Play For All, you may contribute more. We will host three 8-week sessions.
