What’s Happening on Campus

Science Fair is coming up, January 23rd-26th, which means it’s time to get those projects registered! 4th and 5th graders will be completing their Science Fair registrations in class. However, K-3rd graders who are participating in Science Fair must complete their registration online. To register a project for a K-3rd grader, please complete the online Science Fair Registration. Participating students should bring their display boards to school on Monday, January 23rd. Please visit the Science Fair page for more information.

Science Fair viewing will take place on Wednesday, Jan 25th at Spicewood. Viewing times are as follows:  4th grade – 5pm-6pm, 5th grade – 6pm-7pm, and K-3 – 5pm-7pm.

Would you like a chance to travel the world without buying a plan ticket? What would be better than to give our students and their families a passport to cultures around the world? Mark your calendars for the One World, One Night Festival, Tuesday, February 21st from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

At the festival you will find tables hosted by fellow Spicewood parents sharing their cultures by exhibiting artifacts and traditional clothing, teaching crafts and games, and providing culinary samples. Last Spring the event featured Korea, China, Israel, Ethiopia, Philippines, India, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Italy, Peru, France, Bahamas, India, China, Ethiopia, Korea, and Iran. Each year the number of countries grow and we encourage all cultures at Spicewood Elementary to consider participating in this One World, One Night Festival. It is a great way to introduce our students to cultures from around the world and embrace the IB education! This event can not be possible without your participation, if you would like further information or are interested in participating in this event, please do not hesitate to email us.

We would love for families to adopt the Spicewood Teach Garden for a week to help us keep it growing for the students and teachers throughout the year. Responsibilities are easy – light weeding & watering several times during the week, depending on how hot/dry the weather is. Specific instructions will be emailed before your week begins. Don’t delay, sign up today for your chance to take care of the garden! We encourage you to follow us on our Facebook page so you can see how the teachers use the garden, how you can help out, and how the garden grows throughout the year.
