Student Voice & Choice to Synthesize Their Learning

Students in Mrs. Brzycky’s third grade classroom have been inquiring into the rights and responsibilities in community decision making. As part of their learning experiences, students found a need for essential agreements in the school garden so that all visitors can enjoy the outdoor learning space and understand their responsibilities as a learner in that space. After brainstorming ideas for the essential agreements, the entire third grade practiced community decision making to select the most important responsibilities to include, and each student selected a medium for sharing their experience and understanding.
