Updates from the Principal

Dear families and community,

During the month of December, we begin to think about the different customs and traditions our own families acknowledge and celebrate. I love being a part of an IB community as it encourages us to be open minded, appreciating our own culture and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. I look forward to the learning opportunities over the next couple of weeks that are connected to students’ unit of inquiry and will allow them to seek a range of points of views and grow from the experience!

CELEBRATIONS

We love recognizing our students as they demonstrate attributes from the the IB learner profile. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities! Having said this, we would like to recognize Yonnie who demonstrated being courageous and balanced. She recently received 3rd place at the Zilker Park Art Contest and was was invited to the Christmas tree lighting ceremony last Sunday at Zilker Park. Way to go Yonnie!

THIS WEEK’S NEWS

Spicewood Aspires to Be a Caring Community
As an IB community, we are committed to service and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us. Let’s help the Anderson Mill Food Pantry by donating canned and non perishable foods December 4th – December 7th. Your donations will benefit students and families of Anderson Mill Elementary. You may drop off food at Spicewood Elementary beginning Tuesday morning. Suggestions for items donated are jars of peanut butter, Ramen Noodles, tuna, pudding cups, box of mac and cheese, juice boxes (prefer boxes over pouches), and protein bars. Thank you for supporting AME Armadillos!

First in Line – Auction Winner
One of the live auction items at our Spicewood Gala and Auction was the right to have a reserved spot right in front of the school during drop-off and pick up. There is a new sign in the Spicewood driveway that designates this “First in Line” spot. The auction winner will be allowed to park in front of the sign, while the rest of the line of parents dropping off and picking up students will begin after the sign. Thank you!
