Updates from the Principal

Dear families and community,

I cannot believe we will have concluded the first nine week grading period and will soon be starting the month of November! Thank you for your support and involvement thus far. Our students are lucky to learn in an environment where all stakeholders truly collaborate to make decisions that are in their best interest!

CELEBRATIONS

Chess Club
This past Saturday was Spicwood Elementary Chess Club’s pizza party. Over 100 students and parents gathered for this event! Their next scholastic chess tournament will be at Casis Elementary on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Good Luck!

4th Grade Music Concert
Our 4th grade students did an amazing job at the concert last Thursday. Ms. Mckenna and Mr. Sharpe did a great job of connecting the classroom learning to the music program. Big thanks to all the families that came out to witness this hard work of our students!

THIS WEEK’S NEWS

Please No Halloween Costumes or Goodies at School
I can only imagine how excited many of our students may be this week! With all the excitement, please remember that wearing a Halloween costume or passing out candy will not be allowed on Wednesday. Students will be asked to contact parents for a change of clothes if they wear a costume to school. Thank you in advance for your support.

Input for Morning Welcome Music
In order to support our mission of being a globally-minded campus, we would like some input regarding the songs that are played out front while welcoming students into the building. We would love to use upbeat songs from all cultures. If you have a song suggestion (or multiple songs), please submit here!

. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Veterans Day Celebration
Please invite any Veterans you know to attend our Spicewood Elementary Veterans Day celebration on November 6th. There will be two assemblies, one at 8:00, and one at 8:30. We have a wonderful speaker that will make it a morning of celebration where our students can reflect on what the men and women in the military sacrifice for our freedom. The Cub Choir and Panther Choir will be performing too. The star will come home in your Friday folders, please decorate it as a thank you. They will be used in the hallway. If you have a photo of a veteran in your family or someone you know please print off this form, attach a photo and tell us a little bit about this hero. These will be used in the cafeteria. There will also be a reception in the library following the assemblies. All photos are due by Wednesday, October 31.
