International Day of Peace

peacebirdWhat is a PYP school?

To put it simply, it strives to develop an internationally minded person.

As a PYP school, Spicewood “aspires to be a community of caring, global-minded thinkers” (our school’s vision) by providing students with a variety of learning experiences in the classroom that expose them to different cultures and parts of the world. This allows our children to empathize with people, in turn, creating an intercultural openness and understanding that ultimately gives them tools to get involved and change the world.

The concept of global-mindedness  is not limited to the four walls of the classroom, it radiates throughout the building! Our Spanish programs teach language through cultures that speak Spanish and Specials teachers teach their disciplines with a global focus as well. Our campus also celebrate International days, further promoting awareness of our global community.

On Wednesday, September 21st, our campus will be celebrating International Day of Peace. On this day, people from all over the world promote the global mindset of peace.

This year, our campus will be sharing a variety of videos with our students, creating art pieces and having class discussions about this important global idea. Be sure to follow @SpicewoodPYP on Twitter to see how our campus is taking action and spreading the word about peace or take the Great Kindness Challenge with your family and spread more peace in our community!
